Kimi Antonelli delivered Mercedes another victory in Miami, winning the 2026 Miami Grand Prix after a turbulent opening phase and a late schedule adjustment. The No. 12 driver secured his third straight win of the season, extending his early championship lead.
With thunderstorms forecast for later in the day, Formula 1 moved lights out to 1:00 p.m. ET to avoid the worst of the weather. The early laps were frenetic, highlighted by Max Verstappen spinning, which set the tone for an eventful race marked by resets in strategy and position.
Antonelli seized control during the pit-stop cycle, jumping Lando Norris to gain track position. From there he managed ongoing car issues and defended stoutly, keeping the McLaren behind for the remainder of the distance. Oscar Piastri completed the podium for McLaren, while George Russell took fourth for Mercedes.
Despite the early spin, Verstappen was classified fifth for Red Bull. Ferrari logged a double points finish with Lewis Hamilton in sixth and Charles Leclerc eighth, split by Franco Colapinto in seventh for Alpine. Williams rounded out the top 10 through Carlos Sainz in ninth and Alexander Albon in 10th.
