Lando Norris delivered a commanding Sprint Race victory at the Miami Grand Prix, underlining McLaren’s latest upgrade package with a polished drive from the front. The Briton kept the lead at lights out and steadily drew clear, controlling the pace throughout.
Despite the compressed format, the sprint offered intrigue across the field as positions changed hands behind the leaders.
Teammate Oscar Piastri completed a McLaren one-two, finishing 3.766s behind after fending off Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc in the closing stages. Leclerc secured third, 6.251s adrift of the winner.
Mercedes filled the next two positions as Kimi Antonelli edged George Russell to fourth and fifth after a spirited intra-team tussle. Max Verstappen was sixth for Red Bull, 13.639s back.
Gabriel Bortoleto finished 11th for Audi ahead of the Haas pairing of Esteban Ocon and Oliver Bearman. Carlos Sainz was 14th for Williams, followed by Liam Lawson (Racing Bulls) and Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin).
Sergio Perez came home 17th for Cadillac, with Lance Stroll 18th for Aston Martin. Alex Albon was 19th for Williams and Valtteri Bottas completed the finishers in 20th for Cadillac.
There were two retirements: Nico Hulkenberg in the Audi and Arvid Lindblad for Racing Bulls.
The result caps a strong opening to the weekend for McLaren, with its revised package making an immediate statement. Attention now turns to the Grand Prix in Miami, where Ferrari, Mercedes and Red Bull will aim to respond, and whether McLaren’s gains translate over a full race distance.
