F1 revises Miami sprint results after Bortoleto disqualified

3 May 20263 May 2026By News Formula One

Formula 1 updated the Miami sprint classification after Gabriel Bortoleto was disqualified from 11th for a technical breach. The reshuffle lifted all trailing drivers by one spot but did not affect the standings. Lando Norris won from pole and took eight points.

Formula 1 revised the final order of the Miami sprint shortly after the chequered flag, following the post-race disqualification of Gabriel Bortoleto. The Audi driver had finished 11th on Saturday at the Miami International Autodrome before being excluded from the results over a technical violation.

The infringement related to engine intake air pressure. Bortoleto’s car was found to have exceeded the 4.8 barA maximum permitted by Article C5.3.2 of the FIA F1 Technical Regulations, leading to disqualification and removal from the classification.

As a result, Bortoleto was classified 22nd of 22 drivers in the 19-lap sprint around the 19-turn, 3.363-mile (5.412-kilometer) temporary street circuit encircling Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. The exclusion promoted the nine drivers who had finished behind him, as well as the two who didn’t start, by one position.

The adjustment had no impact on either the driver or constructor standings. Only the top eight finishers score in sprint events, and even if the 11th-place finish had been earned in a Grand Prix, it would not have changed the points picture, as Sunday races award points only to the top 10.

Updated Miami sprint results (post-disqualification): - 1: Lando Norris (McLaren) - 2: Oscar Piastri (McLaren) - 3: Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) - 4: George Russell (Mercedes) - 5: Max Verstappen (Red Bull) - 6: Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) - 7: Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari) - 8: Pierre Gasly (Alpine) - 9: Isack Hadjar (Red Bull) - 10: Franco Colapinto (Alpine) - 11: Esteban Ocon (Haas) - 12: Ollie Bearman (Haas) - 13: Carlos Sainz Jr. (Williams) - 14: Liam Lawson (Racing Bulls) - 15: Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) - 16: Sergio Perez (Cadillac) - 17: Lance Stroll (Aston Martin) - 18: Alex Albon (Williams) - 19: Valtteri Bottas (Cadillac) - NC: Nico Hulkenberg (Audi) - NC: Arvid Lindblad (Racing Bulls) - DQ: Gabriel Bortoleto (Audi)

Looking ahead, Bortoleto is set to start last on the 22-car grid for Sunday’s 57-lap Miami Grand Prix. Due to forecast bad weather, lights-out has been moved up from 4:00 p.m. ET to 1:00 p.m. ET, with Apple TV still scheduled to provide live coverage. Watch for how the earlier start and conditions shape the race outcome.
