Martinius Stenshorne kept his composure to secure a breakthrough FIA Formula 2 victory in Sunday’s Montreal Feature Race, converting third on the grid into the top step in a drama-filled contest. The Norwegian led home Rodin Motorsport teammate Alexander Dunne for a commanding 1-2 that underlined the team’s pace and poise in treacherous conditions.
Damp weather made for a slippery track from the outset and mistakes quickly crept in across the field. The pivotal moment arrived when polesitter Laurens van Hoepen hit the Wall of Champions while leading, one of several incidents that brought out the Safety Car and reshaped the order at the front.
Amid the interruptions, Stenshorne stayed clear of trouble and managed the restarts with authority. Elsewhere, contact and errors affected multiple contenders, with Nikola Tsolov and Rafael Câmara among those involved in separate incidents that compromised their progress before the race settled into its decisive phase.
When racing resumed for a final time, Stenshorne controlled the pack to the chequered flag, with Dunne close behind to complete the Rodin sweep. The Irish driver had started sixth and worked his way forward with measured passes, extending his streak of finishing on the podium at every round so far this season.
Behind the podium trio, Tsolov mounted an eye-catching recovery after earlier contact and a spin, fighting back to claim fourth at the flag. Sebastián Montoya delivered another standout performance for PREMA Racing, surging from 18th on the grid to fifth in a display of confident overtaking and clean execution.
The Montreal Feature Race brought high attrition, repeated Safety Car periods and changing momentum, but Stenshorne’s error-free drive proved decisive. With Rodin Motorsport converting opportunity into a 1-2, the spotlight now turns to Monte Carlo, where Minì’s consistency sets the benchmark, Dunne chases another podium, and Stenshorne looks to build on his maiden win in the Championship.
